Career Openings: NWA After-hours Operations Dispatch

Job Summary

The (After-hours Operations Dispatch) is responsible for working nights and weekends, coordinating and directing the movement of trucks and product to ensure pickups and deliveries are completed in an efficient and timely manner.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serve as a reliable point of contact for drivers and management
  • Build/implement/execute a daily dispatch plan using current TMS (McLeod)
  • Monitor local fleet movements
  • Streamline customer communication Email/ customer’s TMS (Lean, nestle, Tyson, etc…)
  • Answer after hour phone calls
  • Communicate effectively with first shift dispatch
  • Triage and address on-the-road problems and delivery issues as they arise
  • Monitor local fleet driver paperwork ensuring paperwork is scanned in properly
  • Gain a working knowledge of Zero Mountain Logistics dispatching model and processes
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • High school degree or equivalent, logistics or transportation degree preferred
  • At least 2 years of truck transportation dispatch and/or operations experience
  • Knowledge of DOT and FMCSA regulations
  • Strong Computer skills on Microsoft Platform, McLeod Software experience a plus
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills and the ability to collaborate with others
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • CDL is plus


Working Environment and Physical Demands

Work is performed in a standard office environment in NWA. Requires the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary. This position will require between 40-50 hours weekly . This position functions in a 24/7 environment, and requires the flexibility to cover other shifts on occasion.
